Taxi protest to cause major disruptions
24th September 2014

A black cab protest is due to take place today at 2pm today, with several thousand vehicles expected to drive slowly on a route surrounding Trafalgar Square and Parliament Square.

The drivers are protesting against what they feel to believe a growing threat in illegal minicab touting, unlicensed operators and electric Rickshaws.

Leon Daniels, TfL’s Managing Director for Surface Transport, said: “It is regrettable that a number of taxi drivers – whose job it is to help keep this city moving – plan to cause unnecessary disruption to other road users.”
Drivers have been advised by TfL to avoid roads in these areas, with buses also likely to be affected.
