Alice Gross murder suspect post-mortem to be held today
6th October 2014

A post-mortem of the body thought to be that of the prime suspect in the murder of Alice Gross, is set to be held later today.

A body thought to be Arnis Zalkalns was discovered in Boston Manor Park, near Hanwell on Saturday afternoon.

Metropolitan Police say that the body is ‘badly decomposed’ and yet to be formally identified.

Mr Zalkalns became a suspect after he was filmed cycling along the Grand Union Canal on the 28th of August, minutes after the Alice Gross was last seen.

The disappearance of the 14-year-old schoolgirl from west London, triggered a nationwide search campaign. Her body was found in the River Brent on Tuesday

A Metropolitan Police statement said: “Although Arnis Zalkalns had been identified as a suspect in the Alice Gross murder investigation, enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding this crime.

“Officers are still searching for evidence, and once again appeal to the public for any information that could assist them.”
