Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Kasabian big winners at Q Awards
22nd October 2014

Music magazine Q announced their big winners of the year earlier today at their annual award ceremony.

Sam Smith, Paolo Nutini and Ed Sheeran all picked up awards as did Kasabian, who beat Kate Bush to be named 'Best Live Act'.

Q named former Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilko Johnson, famed for his erractic performances and unusal playing technique, as their 'Q Icon'.

Johnson released an album with The Who frontman Roger Daltrey earlier in the year.

Questions have been raised over how relevant award ceremonies such as the Q awards are. Entertainment journalist Steve Hargrave gives us his take on the winners.
