British Sausage Week comes to London to find the capital's tastiest bangers
6th November 2014

Whether you like yours with mash, chips or in a hole - sausages are a staple in many Londoners diets (no offence to any vegetarians). British Sausage Week came to London to find the capitals tastiest bangers. The competition was fierce as London's top butchers went head to head at The Orange in Victoria to bag the best Banger Award.

Former England rugby captain and celebrity chef Phil Vickery judged the sizzling sausages alongside Claire Holland of British Sausage Week. The bangers were judged on looks, smell, texture and taste.

The two who snapped up the golden sausage award were Trevor Oliver, from Oliver’s Butchers, in the Traditional category with his Essex Sausage. And Richard Douglas from Carnivore Foods won a Banger Award in the Innovative category for their Negril Jerk Sausage. Believe me, both sausages were very delicious and succulent!

Food Junkie Jimmy Garcia explains his love of comfort food and why the food he really loves is made up of simple ingredients done well. He also gives his take on the best fish n' chips available in London.
