Tom Hardy cuddling puppies, Benedict Cumberbatch and the Allen Jones exhibition everyone is talking about
14th November 2014

Got plans for the weekend? Time to change them.

Simon Thompson talks about James Gandalfini’s last role in The Drop, his top film recommendation for the weekend. The noir thriller is based on the book by Dennis Lehane,  famed author of Shutter Island and Mystic River.

Simon explains why, despite a stellar cast including  Noomi Rapace and Matthias Schoenaerts, the real star of the show is Tom Hardy cuddling puppies.

Simon also chats about Benedict Cumberbatch’s turn in The Imitation Game. Though it may not be to everyone’s taste - Simon finds the pacing a little off - the story of codebreaker and war hero Alan Turing is quickly gathering awards buzz.

Allen Jones’s controversial exhibition at The Royal Academy, Sexism or Sensationalism, is stirring commentators for its erotic and graphic displays. Simon recommends seeing it to haver your opinions confronted.

There’s also the pop-up vintage fair and the urban food festival in Shoreditch happening this weekend.
