Germany 7-1 defeat over Brazil most tweeted sporting moment in 2014

In 2014, the UK tweeted most as Germany thrashed World Cup host Brazil 7-1. 

The semi-final prompted a record 672 million tweets.

In fact, eight of the UK's 10 most-Tweeted about moments were sport related. 

Liverpool striker and famed biter Luis Suarez was the most tweeted about Premier League player, despite Wayne Rooney becoming the first British athlete to have more than 10 million followers. 

Arsenal are the most followed Premier League club with 4.9 million followers, although Manchester United were the most tweeted about British club.
