Twitter announces the trends of 2014
10th December 2014

When Twitter introduced hashtags, they were simply a way of linking individual tweets to a particular topic. This year, the hashtag has taken on a life of its own and trending hashtags have been a way of finding out some of the years biggest events, as well as what Londoners had on their minds throughout the year.

Within a couple of clicks, anyone can see what the top ten topics are that London, the UK and even the world have been tapping about. Yet, more than just a social tool as well, Twitter has morphed into a business platform, a useful news source and even the place to be for breaking stories.

Here at London Live, the Evening Show showcases the top trending topics daily.
Professional tweeter and Twitter spokesman David Lewin joined Wake Up London to talk about the biggest trends of 2014.
