Stephen Fry and Benedict Cumberbatch among celebrities backing campaign to Save Soho
12th December 2014

Stephen Fry and Benedict Cumberbatch are among a host of celebrities calling on Mayor of London Boris Johnson to “save Soho” from redevelopment.

Campaigners fear the character of London's famous entertainment district is at risk of being destroyed.

It was prompted by the closure of one of the area’s best known nightclubs, Madame JoJo's.

The drag and cabaret nightclub was forced to shut after a violent altercation outside its door on 24 October, during which security guards allegedly used baseball bats on a man who had been throwing glass bottles at them. Its license was revoked.

Campaigner Tim Arnold is behind the petition to protect the future of Soho and joined Headline London to discuss why he objects to the gentrification of the area.
