Premier League January transfer window preview: Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he has money available to spend in the January transfer window - but where he will look to strengthen his side remains to be seen.

The possibility of another household name joining the club is unlikely with the Frenchman’s budget thought to be around £25m.

With Olivier Giroud back to full fitness having missed the majority of the season so far, Arsenal’s ned for a striker has lessened, most likely meaning that Wenger will focus on his defence.

With Laurent Koscielny having missed large chunks of the season, the likes of Nacho Monreal, Calum Chambers and Mathieu Debuchy have had to deputise at centre back.

21-year-old Ipswich defender Tyrone Mings is one player the Gunners have been linked with - the young Englishman has impressed since being plucked from non-league obscurity by the Suffolk club in 2012.
