Russell Brand and Dizzee Rascal to be part of A-Level syllabus

Exams regulator, Ofqual, today approved the inclusion of Russell Brand and Dizzee Rascal into the A-level syllabus.

From this September, the syllabus will include the comedian and the rapper as examples of different types of language and speech.

Specific examples include Brand's 2013 interview with Jeremy Paxman and his speech on drugs to a commons select committee.

While critics have used this as an example of exams “dumbing down”, writer and blogger Rich Patrick thinks they are an useful tool for broadening children’s minds and exposing them to other aspects of society.
