Police interrupted a dramatic armed robbery near Liverpool Street station yesterday afternoon.
A gang of three men on mopeds used sledgehammers to launch a raid on a luxury jewellers in Liverpool Street in broad daylight.
The City of London Police followed the suspects to a car park in Gravel Lane where one person was arrested.
During the arrest one officer was threatened with a machete when he confronted the group.
There were no injuries and the machete has been recovered. Two of the suspects still remain at large.
Witnesses reacted to the incident on social media describing the whole area being on lock down whilst police were diverting traffic and pedestrians away from the area.

It not yet known how much they stole from the store.
There has been a number of high profile smash and grabs across the city in recent months.
Yesterday a motorcycle gang of 5 were jailed for 26 years after they made off with luxury items worth £70,000 from a designer store in the West End last year.
