5% of Londoners think Caravaggio is a type of frothy coffee

A new study has found that while we might think of ourselves as cultured, Londoners don't know all that much about art.

Despite the wealth of free art galleries in the capital, one in 10 men think Delacroix is a fashion brand and nearly a fifth of women think Botticelli is an Italian opera singer.

The study also found more people know Donatello as a Ninja turtle than as a sculptor and 5 per cent of Londoners think the 16th century Italian painter Caravaggio is a type of frothy coffee.

London Live’s Luke Blackall went to find out more at the National Gallery.
