According to a study by consumer group Which? Enfield in north London is the worst-performing borough for food hygiene.
London performed poorly overall, with a total of six London boroughs in the bottom ten. Lewisham, Ealing, Harrow, Camden and Brent were the boroughs named.
Which? made their decision using the latest data submitted to the Food Standards Agency by 398 UK local authorities.
Unsurprisingly, the rankings have been met with resistance. Enfield council’s cabinet member for environment and community safety, Chris Bond said: “This research is so fundamentally flawed that I would not wrap my chips in the paper it is printed on.”
