Two very different kinds of love stories arrive in cinemas this Valentine's weekend and London Live's Entertainment Producer Simon Thompson he been checking them out.
Will the highly anticipated Fifty Shades Of Grey tickle his fancy or will John Lithgow and Alfred Molina's Love Is Strange e the perfect date movie?
Fifty Shades of Grey
The movie is based on the bestselling cult novel, which had some Kindle readers relishing in the anonymity on the Tube.
It’s based on the story of student Anastasia Steele who has an encounter with a young entrepreneur, Christian Grey.
The book follows the two in their "romance" which explores the depths of their psyche and sexuality.
Simon’s critique: Dull. The acting was wooden, and the ending is “a massive anti-climax.”
Love is Strange
This is a love story of a gay couple who have been together for 40 years.
Ben and George played by John Lithgow and Alfred Molina finally tie the knot in a beautiful wedding ceremony.
All seems rosy until George losses his job causing the couple to live apart.
This story follows the stuggle the pair face with the separation and has a wickedly funny tone when illustrating the tensions of their new living relationships.
Simon’s critique: This is what love is all about.
