The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visit London Live

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall visited the offices of the London Evening Standard today as the newspaper went to press.

A Clarence House spokesperson said that the reason for the visit was that "during their usual course of their engagements, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall wanted to visit their local newspaper."

As part of their tour of the newsroom, they were shown one of the London Live studios and met presenter Alex Beard. London Live is a sister company of the Evening Standard and Independent which are all owned by Evgeny Lebedev. He escorted the royal couple during their visit, alongside Sarah Sands, the editor of the Evening Standard.

Mr Lebedev said of the visit: “We are all privileged that The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visited our newsroom today.

“It is a reminder of how engaged he is with the country he serves and how the London Evening Standard is central to the lives of everyone in the capital, including our future monarch.”
