Labour's Tessa Jowell has launched her bid to run for Mayor of London this morning.
The former MP for Dulwich and West Norwood made the announcement at a Brixton Community Centre.
But she faces some tough competition for the Labour candidacy, other names already in the hat include Sadiq Khan, Diane Abbott and David Lammy.
In other Mayoral news, senior Lib Dems today backed London Assembly Member Caroline Pigeon as the party's candidate for next year's mayoral contest.
Speaking on London Live Debates, her colleague from the London Assembly Stephen Knight said she was the perfect candidate.
His view was endorsed by Baroness Kramer who is herself a former Lib Dem mayoral candidate.
