Council withdraw plans to make homelessness illegal in Hackney

Protesters outside Hackney Council have been celebrating a victory after they fought against the council’s plans to add 'rough sleepers' to its Public Spaces Protection Order.

The council have decided to withdraw this amendment which would have made homelessness illegal in the borough.

This was part of a week of demonstrations to highlight gentrification and homelessness in the borough by Reclaim Hackney and Digs.
