Abbey Wood church hall under threat by Crossrail

St Benet's Church hall in Abbey Wood in South East London has been in the area for the last 80 years.

However, campaigners say the building is under threat of closure after losing two out of three of it's fire escapes after Crossrail are building on the land that was once used as part of the fire escape.

Campaigners say many community groups within the hall simply cannot function safely with only one fire escape in place.

Crossrail say they obtained the land legally and need it as part of the major rail development in Abbey Wood.

Funmi Olutoye has the story.
