Exclusive: New figures show Metropolitan Police only has 11.7% officers from a minority background

Only 11.7% of the Metropolitan Police's frontline officers are from a Black, ethinc or minority background, according to exclusive statistics provided by Urbs London.

The figures are higher than ten years ago, when the figure stood at 6.9%, but current figures are still far below the Met's target of 40%.

Experts say that trust issues between the police and the community may be to blame.
