London family launch fundraising drive for refugees

A London family keen to do more to help Syrian refugees have begun fundraising and travelling abroad to deliver aid.

Dr Ruqiyabi Naz Awan launched an appeal at the University of East London asking for shoes. Staff and students quickly responded in a matter of days, donating 600 pairs, some of which were brand new.

Dr Naz's brother Shakir and nephew Zakariah then travelled out to the Greek Island of Samos to deliver the items during the half-term holiday.
