New skip lorry design to reduce risk of accidents

Skip lorries with floor-to-ceiling glass doors, similar to those used on buses, will begin appearing on our roads from this morning.

The waste management company behind the new design hopes it will improve visibility for drivers and reduce the risks of accidents involving cyclists. 

A lorry driver who witnessed the death of a cyclist in east London has set up an organistaion to try and help others stay safe.

Richard Bailey came up with Be HGV Aware training scheme after a londoner was killed in Bow in 2011.
