Bedlam at the Wellcome Collection

Bethlem Royal Hospital - or 'Bedlam' as it was once known - is thought to be the first mental hospital in England.

The institution forms the starting point of a new exhibition at the Wellcome Collection in central London.

‘Bedlam: the asylum and beyond’ looks at the past, present and future of mental illness and psychiatric care.
