Brixton statues given listed status

Brixton Recreation Centre, statues thought to be the first public sculptures depicting black people and a bust of Nelson Mandela have all been given listed status. At the announcement by historic England some of the statues at Brixton Station were reunited with their real-life counterparts. The organisation is hoping that with help from the public more areas of the capital key to black history will be preserved.
