East London Art Wall under threat

A wall in East London that is covered in artwork is under threat of being taken over by developers.

The Shoreditch Art Wall on Great Eastern Street has been painted by street artists from all over the world and has raised hundreds of pounds for charity through rented advertising space.

But a £715m development on the street means artists may no longer be able to use it.

We contacted the developers behind The Stage and they sent us the following statement:

"We are proud to be preserving the history of Shoreditch and the remains of Shakespeare's Curtain Theatre at The Stage. The art wall is a unique element of Shoreditch life and we are committed to keeping it as part of the development."
