Premature baby becomes youngest to survive groundbreaking surgery

A baby born four months early is thought to have become the youngest patient to survive major abdominal surgery.

Medics at St George's Hospital in Tooting carried out the ground-breaking operation on Abi Peters, six days after she was born at 23 weeks.

Doctors say there was a less than a 10 per cent chance of success.
