56 Green spaces in London under threat from development

The Campaign to Protect Rural England is publishing an online map today.

Highlighting 56 green spaces in London which are under threat from development.

One of them is Shoreditch Park Gardens, the council are planning to build a new secondary school and leisure centre in the area, but campaigners say it shouldn't impact on open spaces.

Philip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney said the plans will enable us to fulfil one of our key priorities; to provide a high quality new secondary school and a state-of-the-art new leisure centre to benefit future generations of Hackney residents.

This is a major project, and in the absence of sufficient Government funding to pay for it, a lot of work has been put in to find options which are achievable, both practically and financially.
