The rising cost of funerals

A funeral procession stopped outside Parliament earlier - so that a petition could be handed to government. The stunt was part of a campaign calling on the Chancellor to increase the fund to help people cover the cost of burying relatives. At the moment people on low incomes can apply for help, but the amount has been capped at 700 pounds since 2003.  The Fair Funerals Campaign argues that isn’t enough and is forcing people into debt.
