Charles Dickens museum welcomes Christmas with earliest images of Scrooge

Some of the original illustrations for the first edition of A Christmas Carol are going on show at the Charles Dickens Museum, along with costumes from the new film about the creation of the book.

The sketches by John Leech are rarely seen, and said to be the very first pictorial versions of Scrooge.

They appear as part of the museum's annual celebration of the writer's most favourite time of year.

A Ghost Of An Idea: Unwrapping A Christmas Carol runs at the museum from tomorrow until Feb 25.
