‘Mr Underbed’ sees surge in sales following John Lewis advert

Chris Riddell’s children’s book ‘Mr Underbed’ sold out overnight, following the release of the John Lewis Christmas advert.

The retailer's 2017 festive promo features ‘Moz the Monster’, a character with striking similarities to ‘Mr Underbed’, which was created by the former Children’s Laureate in 1986.

John Lewis said that the story of a big hairy monster under the bed which keeps a child from sleeping is a universal tale which has been told many times over many years.

Chris has been attending book signings and thanks the high street chain for indadvertedly promoting his book.

He spoke to London Live's Anthony Baxter.
