Extra £59m for London’s police

Sadiq Khan has committed an extra 59 million pounds to policing in London to try to tackle the rise in crime and increase the number of officers.

The move was unveiled as the mayor put his final budget plans to the London Assembly, outlining how he'll spend £16 billion across the capital.

The increase in funding for the Metropolitan Police has been raised through changes to business rates and a rise in certain bands of council tax.
