Hackney bookshop in the running for major prize

A shop in east London that aims to give a platform to diverse voices is in the running for Independent Bookshop of the Year. 

Pages of Hackney sells a range of paper and hardbacks and also hosts exhibitions, concerts and social events.

It was picked as the London winner in the indie cateogory of the British Book Awards and will now compete against seven other regions for the nationwide title.

The national winner for Independent Bookshop of the year will be announced on May 14th.

The winning store will receive a cheque for £5,000.
