Strongroom Studios petitions against new development

More than 4,000 people have now backed a petition calling on Hackney Council to reject an office block development in Shoreditch - next to Strongroom music studios.

The venue, which has worked with the likes of Bjork, The Chemical Brothers and Radiohead, claims the building work will impact on their ability to produce new records, and will also damage the area's reputation as a creative hub.

The site is currently home to 18 other independent businesses.

A Hackney council spokesperson says the application will be considered this month, and that officers have visited Stongroom's site to assess the potential impact of the proposed new development.
