Londoners warned "stay out of Thames"

Lifeboat crews are warning Londoners to stay out of the Thames after receiving a record number of call-outs.

The Royal National Lifeboat institution have said there are a number of hidden dangers posed by the river such as strong currents and deep plunges.

During the recent heat wave, they have responded to calls to swimmers who have been carried away by the current or cut off by the tide.
