Heroic family cat saved child from being mauled by dog
15th May 2014

The moment an heroic cat saved a child from being mauled by a dog has been captured in dramatic CCTV footage.

The clip, shot in California,  shows a child being pulled from his bike by a prowling dog which viciously mauled the boy's leg.

But the family's pet cat quickly rushed to the rescue - making the dog flee in terror after attacking the helpless boy. A woman, understood to be the boy's mother, rushes to help moments later.

The video, which has been viewed millions of times online, shows a young boy playing on a driveway in Bakersfield, when a dog lunges at his leg, grabs hold of it with his jaws and drags the boy off his bike.

A dark cat then appears and chases it down the driveway and away from the child before a woman runs to help the boy.

Broadcaster Kathryn Dowling discusses the footage in the Daily Grind - Wake Up London's daily look at the news.
