Man killed and 13 injured after crash between car and bus in Clapton
4th June 2014

A man has died and another 13 people have been injured following a serious crash between a car and a bus in Clapton this morning.

Police and paramedics were called at 2.20am following reports of a collision in Lea Bridge Road near the junction of Essex Warf.

The man, in his early 20s, who was in the car died at the scene while another man was taken to an east London hospital where he is in a critical condition. 

Two other men who were in the back of the car were also injured. Both are in a serious but stable condition. 

About 10 bus passengers, travelling on the N38 toward Whipps Cross, were also treated for injuries by paramedics. 

Some have been taken to hospital by another bus supplied by Transport for London. 

Road closures are in place running from Chatsworth Road with the junction of Lea Bridge Road to Orient Way with the junction with Lea Bridge Road.

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Chadwell Heath are investigating and no arrests have been made.
