Masked raiders attack West End jewellers in daylight raid
13th June 2014

Designer watches worth thousands of pounds were stolen from a high end jewellers by masked raiders in a daylight smash and grab.

The Regent Street branch of Mappin and Webb was targeted by a four-man gang wearing hoods and sunglasses who smashed display cases in front of terrified staff.

Dozens of watches were snatched before escaping on foot through crowds of stunned shoppers.

The raid came 36 hours after a gang of six sledgehammer-wielding robbers on moped stole a ‘substantial amount’ of jewellery and watches from the Dorchester hotel in Park Lane early on Tuesday morning.

Links between the two attacks are being investigated by police. The raid happened at 5.45pm last night.
