Teenagers die after falling from tower block balcony during party
11th June 2014

Two teenagers have died after falling from a sixth floor balcony following a party at a tower block in Deptford.

Police and paramedics were called shortly after midnight to Knights Tower in Wharf Street. But the 18-year-old man and 19-year-old woman died at the scene.

Witnesses say the woman was sitting on the rail of the balcony when she became unstable and grabbed the man, causing them both to fall at around 10.30pm.

Detectives are not treating the deaths as suspicious and next of kin have not yet been informed.

Insp Shaun Carre-Brown said "This appears to be a tragic accident and our thoughts go out to the families and those that knew them.

"The couple were at a party in the block when this tragedy occurred.”
