London hosts first savoury cocktail bar
11th July 2015

The country's first savoury cocktail bar opened its doors in London's Soho featuring a range of exclusive cocktails developed by world-renowned mixologist Matt Whiley.

Punters to the pop-up shop were treated with flavours that included Chilli Con Carne, Plum Spring Rolls, and Fish and Chips. This comes after research that more than half of Brits prefer savoury flavours to sweet yet despite the nation's love affair with savoury flavours, 80 per cent of UK adults have never tried a savoury cocktail.

As a result, Jacob's is opening the UK’s first savoury cocktail bar serving up a range of gourmet cocktails, or ‘Snacktails’, which also aim to accompany the flavours of the savoury snack maker's new Cracker Crisps range.

Developed in collaboration with expert mixologist Matt Whiley - also known as the Talented Mr Fox and voted one of London Evening Standard’s 1000 Most Influential People in 2014 - who is the mastermind behind wacky cocktail concoctions such as Bin Juice, Salt Beef Sazerac and Marmite Martini.

Matt said: "Consumers are definitely becoming more adventurous when it comes to taste, with the savoury cocktail trend only continuing to increase, and so the minute I heard that Jacob’s wanted to push the boundaries with savoury cocktail flavours for the launch of their new Cracker Crisps range, I jumped at the chance to be involved."
