If you're heading to Ignition Dance Festival at the Rose Theatre Kingston this Saturday, expect to be wowed by six of the nation's most splendid choreographers presenting new work under the theme of 'disorder'.
One of the festival's choreographers is Jane Coulston, Director and Choreographer of Beyond Repair Dance - a contemporary dance company that is renowned for its versatility, eclectic audiences and unusual styling.
Jane has created work for Glastonbury Festival, Sky 1’s Got to Dance, BBC Shorts, Years & Years, Honda, Wells Fargo and Mastercard. As well as various touring projects.
Jane, who studied acrobatic arts in Canada, is also passionate about dance education and has been commissioned to create work and run workshops and residency’s for Chichester College, ISTD Congress at Laban, London Junior Ballet, Loughborough University, Welsh Independent Dance, The Shine Program and the National Lottery’s Schools Sports partnership. She is also responsible for creating and developing the dance program at the American School in London.
Jane is the first UK dance artist to have an Acrobatic Arts teacher qualification supported by Cirque Du Soleil.
Following training as a gymnast and gaining graduating from Laban, Jane worked internationally as a dancer and choreographer, working and studying further in New York. Working with the New Amsterdam Dance theatre, as resident choreographer at Stagedoor Theatre Arts and various dance theatre and physical theatre companies in the USA.
Jane is currently working on various large scale projects including a Virtual Reality film, a summer festival tour, a major event for Marie Curie Cancer care and various commercial projects and events, TV and film.
Her ensemble Rife is about a dance plague in the 1300s.
She said: "It started off in a very different direction - has moulded into something very unusual so we're really looking forward to sharing it with everyone."

Other choreographers participating in this year’s Ignition Dance Festival are: Salah El Brogy, Cindy Claes, Jane Coulston, Thomasin Gulgec, Estela Merlos and Sally Marie. All six have performed with some of the world’s leading choreographers and dance companies before launching their own choreographic careers.
What can you expect from this year’s festival? Now in its third year, it is the only festival of its kind in West London.
The two-day in July event showcases brand new work by pioneering choreographers at Kingston’s Rose Theatre.
