London Reopens

How this East London bakery adapted and thrived during the pandemic

As the capital begins to reopen we have been speaking to Londoners  who set up businesses from their own homes during the pandemic or had to drastically change the way they work to survive.

The bakery and social enterprise ‘The Dusty Knuckle’ was launched by 3 friends in 2014, they started working out of a 40ft shipping container in Hackney and then upgraded to a permanent cafe in Dalston. When the pandemic hit they had to change their business model and start selling door to door. They also managed to get flour, yeast and other baking products to their loyal customers at a time when they were scarce.

Tanya has been speaking to one of the founders Max Tobias about how they adapted and essentially thrived. They launched a successful Kickstarter page and raised more than double they intended to and are now set to open a second site in Haringey.
