Cannabis smokers should not be housed by the local authority

The Islington Gazette reported that the Labour councillor for St Mary’s Ward said it was a “scandal” that cannabis smokers are housed in council properties. 
Gary Poole, a prison governor, said: ““It must be a scandal when we have 10,000 decent people on the waiting list that we can allow council properties to be let to people who want to engage in criminal behaviour.”
He made the comments at a council meeting where he was applauded by other councillors.

£6,000 video to help decide council cuts” 

Ilford Recorder reports that Redbridge council spent £6,000 on a video to help them decide how to make cuts.

Trader’s fury over hypnotism appeal

Ham & High report that a man who was allegedly caught on camera being hypnotised has denied the story. He said it was not hypnosis and was in fact closer to a party trick.


Boris bike-style car sharing set up

The Hackney Gazette reports of the car sharing scheme which allows users to access cars using an app. 
DriveNow is a joint venture between BMW and car rental company Sixt.

The Wandsworth Guardian report that Wandsworth council have endorsed proposals for the final race of Formula E to be held in Battersea Park. 

Parents outraged after star-studded Northolt winter fair cancelled with just two days’ notice

Get West London report that a disagreement with landowners forced organisers to cancel the Northolt  “Winter Family Spectacular”.
Dozens of parents objected on the event’s Facebook page. 
Boxer Joe Calzaghe and former Blue singer Lee Ryan were scheduled to attend.
