Carpetright announce profits and rebranding plans
15th December 2014

Carpetright is broadening its range and going upmarket because it says it needs to appeal to more affluent shoppers who currently favour independent shops for carpets and flooring. They will be rebranding in the new year. The business revealed its financial results this year, with sales up six-and-a-half per cent. They say consumer confidence has improved.
Sandwich maker Greggs also reports “favourable trading environment" and say the "weather [was] generally helpful”. Apparently because of decent weather, consumers are spending more on sandwiches, pasties and cakes. Total sales growth of just over three-and-a-half per cent this year to date. They expect their full year profits to be ahead of analysts' expectations.
Satellite and cable operators including Sky and Virgin are protesting that ITV wants money for them to be able to broadcast its free channels. It comes as the Government launches a review on the matter. The satellite and cable firms say ITV get a big benefit worth at least £87m from being very prominent on the menu of channels on your TV and say ITV should pay them for the privilege. ITV, of course, disagree.
