NME announce Awards shortlist

The NME announced the shortlist for its awards today, with its tongue firmly placed in its cheek.

The music magazine has released the predicable awards, such as ‘Best British Act’ and ‘Best Video’ but one category has got tongues wagging, the 'Villian of the Year'.

The not-so-nice nominees are: Bono, David Cameron, Harry Styles, Nigel Farage, Russell Brand and Taylor Swift.

This is the third year running that One Direction member Harry Styles has been up for this undesirable award, unfortunately for him, winning it last year.

It seems the magazine can't make its mind up about Russell Brand and Taylor Swift, as ironically both are also up for the ‘Hero of the Year’ award too, alongside Noel Gallagher, Alex Turner, Kate Bush and Dave Grohl.

A different but possibly even more undesirable award is the ‘Worst Band’ category where Harry Styles and Bono take second hits. The ‘Worst Band’ category names their groups, joined by 5 Seconds Of Summer, Bastille, Blink-182 and The 1975.

But not all the nominations were meant to insult. Kasabian, Royal Blood and Jamie T leading the list of nominees under categories such as ‘Best Band’ and ‘Best Solo Artist.’
