Penny Lancaster promotes Penny for London scheme raising money using Oyster cards

A charity has partnered with TfL so that every time commuters touch their Oyster card in, they donate a penny towards helping deprived children in the city.

Penny For London is changing the way charity works - no longer is it simply about the collection tin. Londoners are being asked to register their contactless debit or credit cards to donate one penny - or more, if they wish - every day they travel using an Oyster.

The money goes to help transform the prospects of young Londoners from disadvantaged backgrounds in the capital.

Model Penny Lancaster visited a breakfast club in Charlton to promote the scheme. James Banks spoke to her to find out why she is getting involved and what it means to her.

The project was launched by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson in October this year.
