Camden Market floated on the Stock Exchange

Market Tech, which owns the 11acre site is expected to raise £100 million and wants to build luxury flats and a hotel with the proceeds. 

Some market traders are criticising the move, saying they fear Camden could lose its identity as a result. 


Driver ploughs into pedestrians in France

A driver shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ or ‘God is greatest’ has ploughed into pedestrians in eastern France, injuring 11 of them, just a day after a man yelling the same words was killed in an attack on police officers.

Two of the people injured in the car attack in the city of Dijon are in a serious condition and the driver has been arrested.


Diplomatic relations between North Korea and the US hit a new low.

The Asian country has threatened to attack the White House after it claims Barack Obama is spreading rumours about the country's involvement in the cyber attack against Sony Pictures.

It comes after a controversial film about the assassination of North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Un was cancelled by the entertainment giant.


Romanian pickpocket warning in Covent Garden

A police notice in Covent Garden warning pickpockets of police activity in the area has been written in Romanian.

Mark Field, MP for the Cities of London and Westminster said: "There are many Romanians coming to this country willing to work, but I’m afraid there is a minority on the streets who should be removed.”

Critics of the sign have deemed it racist.


New Era rent threat removed

People living on the New Era Estate in Hoxton are looking forward to a happier Christmas, now the threat of huge rent increases has been removed.

The tenants took their campaign to Downing Street and got the backing of celebrities including Russell Brand.

It came after a property company bought their flats and planned to increase the rents by the end of the year, some by as much as 400 per cent.

Now the owners have agreed to sell the estate to a housing charity.


Elton John gets hitched

Sir Elton John and David Furnish have officially married, exactly nine years after they entered into a civil partnership.

The couple hosted a ceremony at their estate in Windsor with a number of celebrity guests including Lulu and David Walliams.

Sir Elton documented the wedding day with a number of pictures posted on his Instagram.

And finally… A very special Christmas gift for a lost dog owner

A lost Chihuahua has been reunited with his owner for Christmas after he was found in a Santa sack on a church porch.

Samantha Jones from Deptford lost Eragon while out walking in August.

He was then found more than 40 miles away in Hertfordshire by schoolchildren attending a service.

It's thought the dog was found by someone who took him in and then a few months later found they couldn't cope.
