Developers sign deal for new £70m Brentford stadium

Plans for a new stadium for Brentford Football Club are a step closer after the club signed a deal with developers for the £70m site.

It will seat 20,000 fans and include 900 new homes.

Despite getting backing from ministers earlier this year, planning details still needed to be finalised. Brian Burgess, from the Lionel Road development, said despite compulsory purchase orders being issued by Hounslow Council homeowners will not be forced out.

“No-one is going to lose their homes, this is an industrial site,” he told Wake Up London.

He said the site is being used for industrial purposes and the development will bring a new lease of life to the area.
