Western Europe's highest art installation opens at the Shard

The spire of the Shard is being lit up in a public art installation which aims to evoke the spirit of London.

London Live's Maleena Pone was the first broadcaster to see the installation.

Shard Lights is a light display which shines out across London from 5pm. The final showing will be tomorrow, on New Year's Eve.

Award-winning art collective Jason Bruges studio created the piece, which occupies the top 40 storeys of the Shard.

Artist Jason Bruges said: "Shard Lights will create a theatre in the sky, and it will be a prominent feature of the London skyline for the twelve days of the project

"It has been an honour to work on this project for such an iconic and internationally recognised building."
