Cut up your credit cards and prepare for next Christmas

Christmas is one of the most expensive times of the year.

The Independent’s Personal Finance Editor Simon Read said cutting up the credit card and planning how to pay back the money month by month is one of the best ways to deal with festive debt.

He also said people should start financially planning for Christmas 2015.

Warnings have also been issued about a scam involving second hand cars.

Some conmen are selling vehicles without log book, which Simon warns could indicate they are stolen or made up from illegal parts.

He also warns about scams surrounding new rules meaning people over the age of 55 can now claim their pensions.
