Engineering works at London Bridge leave risk of ‘dangerous overcrowding’

Train users at London Bridge faced potentially “dangerous” overcrowding as engineering works caused huge disruptions to the station.

British Transport Police had to be called as commuters jumped ticket barriers to make it to their trains - many of which departed half empty. Other services were also cancelled.

Network Rail later apologised for the situation, which was caused by problems with the new platforms at Merstham, affecting the Brighton mainline.

Dan Freedman went to London Bridge to see what knock on affects the engineering works have had.
