Overseas visitors spend £9bn in the capital

Foreign visitors to London spent a record amount last year.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show over the first nine months of 2014, almost £9bn was spent in the capital - more than 6 per cent on the previous year.

Kit Malthouse, Deputy Mayor of London for Business, spoke to London Live about the figures.

This comes as the winner of a prize to spend two weeks in the capital visiting some of London's world famous attractions was announced.

American Adeza Ooyenwa was picked as part of a Guest of Honour in the competition.

The Mayor's promotional firm, London and Partners, are behind the trip.

The 24-year-old spoke to London Live via webcam about the competition.
